Following the success of the previous ‘Early Years’ and ‘Primary’ awards, The Teach Company have started up a new award celebrating the very best support resources available for secondary schools.

The ExamReader was nominated for the SEND category and, after being shortlisted to just 6 finalists, Scanning Pens beat out the competition.

The judge who reviewed the ExamReader had this to say, “[The ExamReader is] very easy to set up, and meets a real need. Students quickly get used to using it and it supports their confidence in exams and during normal ways of working.”

The ExamReader is a text-to-speech reading support that scans text and reads it aloud or via earphones. This portable literacy aid was initially designed to discreetly assist SEND students in their exams while saving schools time and money. Since its development, the ExamReader has become a tool that all users, and even businesses, can implement to support struggling readers.

After receiving the award; Jack Churchill, the Co-Founder and CEO of Scanning Pens, said, “This is now the third major award we’ve received this year alone; it just shows how far we’ve come as an organisation. To have our technology continuously recognised for the support it provides is extremely gratifying after the immense amount of work that goes into tailoring our aid for individual needs. As the year comes to a close, we will continue to maintain the quality of support that has earned us such prestige.”

In just the past 10 months, Scanning Pens has also received the Export of the Year award from both Bett (British Educational Training and Technology) and the BLA (Business Leader Awards).
