‘We’re Here to Support Educators’– Scanning Pens Co-Founder Jack Churchill on the Qualified Tutor Podcast

Technology is at the centre of many people’s dyslexia experience. From low-tech devices like reading windows to the very latest in text-to-speech technology, millions of people all over the world use reading supports to help them access education and achieve their full potential.

Scanning Pens’ Co-Founder Jack Churchill chatted to the Qualified Tutor podcast last week about how Scanning Pens’ devices can be used across the globe by tutors and educators to transform the  traditional learning experience of students with dyslexia, by providing support that boosts their confidence and encourages independent learning. He also chats about the ways that Scanning Pens itself is looking to the future and exploring what support educators need in terms of making sure that people with dyslexia can succeed.

Speaking about Scanning Pens and their holistic approach to dyslexia support, Jack said: “We’ve taken on a couple of educators within our business who create resources and strategies for schools to help them get going with the pens. We’ve very much moved from just sending out boxes of pens to schools to actually becoming an education company. We want to be there for the schools, for the teachers, for the tutors to provide all the support. We don’t want you to just get the pen and think ‘Oh gosh – what am I going to do with that?’ -  We want to give you things like exercises and activity books that go with it to get children excited and enthused; things to help them get off the mark. We as a company are very much here to support educators.”

Scanning Pens now offer free trials to parents, as well as to schools and education providers, and encourages people to get in touch with them for information and support when it comes to all aspects of reading support.
