Scanning Pens Nominated For Tech&Learning Awards Of Excellence 2020!

Breaking Learning Barriers & Supporting Inclusive Accommodations

Scanning Pens is excited to announce that the ReaderPen is a Tech&Learning Awards of Excellence 2020 nominee. For more than 40 years the Tech&Learning's Awards of Excellence has highlighted EdTech products and services that are enhancing students' educational experience.

Only products that have been released or re-released during the past year may be nominated. Winners are placed into four categories, these are: best use of a product in a classroom, best use of a product in a school, best use of a product in a district, and best re-invention of a classic legacy technology. This year’s winners will be announced by July 17th.

Scanning Pens is an award-winning assistive technology company providing individuals with the tools they need to succeed in school and in their everyday lives. The ReaderPen is a text-to-speech tool used worldwide in all stages of education, empowering users to read independently.

Schools are able to provide inclusive accommodations which improve students' confidence, while meeting their learning needs and complying with IEP and 504 guidelines.

The ReaderPen was re-released to include new features, enhancing its ability to meet user’s individual learning needs. The new English accents are Scottish, Irish, Australian and Indian. The additional English accents has helped ESL students improve their confidence and learning opportunities.

There is also a set-up wizard which appears when the ReaderPen is turned on for the first time but can also be accessed using the settings menu. The wizard helps familiarize users with the ReaderPen functions, including the desired language and choosing between the left/right-handed scanning option.

The ReaderPen also has a scan-to-file feature for simplified note-taking, and a built-in recorder which can be used by teachers to record fluency progress checks. To learn more about these and other ReaderPen features, visit www.readerpen.com.
